The Mr. McCaw’s business eventually sold for $755 million. As a telecommunications visionary, Mr. McCaw also acquired cell phone licenses as early as 1981, and was able to unload them unto AT&T for $12 billion.  When the marriage went sour, and the lack of a pre-nuptial agreement the courts granted Wendy $460 million, enough to support her $200,000 per week lifestyle.

3.  $874 million- Adan and Soraya Khashoggi

As an international arms dealer for the Saudi royal family, Adan Khashoggi started banking a fortune. A few years after he terminated this job, Mr. Khashoggi began his own company, Triad, which owned and managed banks, hotels, and real estate world-wide. He married his wife, Soraya, in 1961. Both Mr. and Mrs. Khashoggi partook in living extremely lavish lifestyles.Unfortunately for both, they parted ways in 1982 and Soraya was awarded an $874 million out-of-court settlement, one of the most expensive in history.

14. $1.7 billion- Rupert and Anna Murdoch

As one of the richest men in the entire world, Rupert Murdoch accumulated his fortune early on through inheriting his father’s Australian newspaper back in 1952. Through the years, Mr. Murdoch developed it into a worldwide media empire called News Corporation. Already a multi-millionaire, he married Anna in the late 60’s and they had three children together. In 1999 the couple divorced and Rupert agreed to give Anna $1.7 billion – mostly in assets – although she was removed from the News Corp board. Seventeen days after the divorce was finalized Rupert married a younger employee at the company – Wendi Deng.

15. Unbelievable?- Frederick and Vera Chiluba

The 33 year marriage between the former President of Zambia, Frederick Chiluba and his wife Vera was recently awarded an annulment. Mrs. Chiluba is currently asking for a  $2.5 billion settlement  (by the way, this number is more than 75% of the country’s Gross Domestic Product). In addition to a share of their families accumulated concrete assets of six houses and a farm, she is also loudly demanding over 400 cows, sheep, and goats. Vera is currently living off government assistance, since no one knows exactly how much the Mr. Chiluba is currently worth OR how he was able to acquire the money. This divorce has needless to be said, not settled at this time.
